The Affordable Care Act sets an open enrollment period, known as #Obamacare Open Enrollment. This program starts on November 1st and ends on January 15th. Only in Open Enrollment can you apply for Obamacare, unless you qualify for a special enrollment period.
Who qualifies for Obamacare?
Individuals with legal status in the United States and have certain income requirements qualify for Obamacare.
If you do not have health coverage through your employer, Medicare, or Medicaid, you can get covered through the Insurance Marketplace. If you are eligible for an Obamacare health plan, the government gives you a subsidy to help pay for a large part of your health insurance.
Obamacare eligibility:
Have lawful immigration status in the United States.
Minimum Income.
Apply during the Open Enrollment Period, or if you qualify for a Special Period, apply within the established limits.
If you are married, you must file a joint tax return.
You cannot be claimed as a dependent of another individual.
You must not have health coverage through your employer.
You must not be jailed.
